Massage therapy is the art of healing through touch. Massage is an effective and applicable treatment for whole-body healthcare. Utilized for centuries, massage therapy’s benefits extend far beyond relaxation. Massage therapists strive to provide client-focused therapeutic bodywork for injuries both chronic and acute.

Massage can help realign the body, reduce pain, relieve headaches, aid in stress management, increase lymphatic drainage, improve circulation, and increase mobility. Massage can also help support existing treatment plans such as chiropractic, CranioSacral Therapy, and acupuncture. A wide variety of massage therapy techniques allow the massage therapist to create individualized treatment plans for each client. Roots for Health’s providers are trained in many of these techniques, including deep tissue therapy, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, myofascial release, acupressure, Swedish massage, cupping, and contrast hydrotherapy.

Patients seeking massage therapy can expect to have their therapist ask questions about previous injuries, conduct a postural assessment, and discuss the client’s desired goals. Massage therapists also recommend various forms of post-treatment self-care such as stretching, exercises, and hydrotherapy to help support the patient’s course of treatment.

People often think of the skeleton as holding up their bodies, but muscles are what support the bones. The bodies’ muscles and soft tissue play a primary role in movements and when they are not thriving, an individual is not thriving – muscles speak to people and give them insight to their health and wellness. At Roots for Health, we strive to integrate massage therapy into our patients’ paths to wellness and support your best-feeling self!
