COVID-19 Info
March 5, 2020
To our Roots for Health community,
As Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is confirmed in our area and there is increasing concern, we would like to remind everyone of general recommendations and share resources.
First of all, our offices are currently open and we intend to continue to support all of you. However, if you are ill with a fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath – please do stay home. Do not go to work and do not come in for a visit until you have contacted our office via phone.
To remain in good health and prevent the spread of any illness –
Avoid close contact with sick people, do not visit hospitals, nursing homes, or long term care facilities if possible.
Wash your hands often and with soap for at least 20 seconds; use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if needed
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
Cover your face with a cloth/tissue for coughing and sneezing, do NOT cover your face with your hands
Clean/disinfect surfaces regularly
Wear a mask only if you are ill to prevent the spread of illness to others
At our Roots for Health clinic we are practicing these general measures. In addition, we are sanitizing surfaces regularly, washing our hands more frequently, wearing gloves and masks as necessary, and are providing wipes and masks to patients as appropriate.
For some providers, Telehealth visits are available. Please contact the office to find out if your specific provider offers this option for you.
To support your immune system, we generally recommend the following vitamins, herbs, and supplements. Your doctor can also provide you with specific recommendations that best fit your individual needs. Please note that these recommendations are not specific to the coronavirus. If you are unwell and concerned, please talk to your healthcare provider.
Vitamin A, C, D, and Zinc (contact your healthcare provider before using Vitamin A if you are or may be pregnant)
Mushroom compounds
Elderberry and Echinacea
Probiotic supplements/foods
Garlic, honey, onion, rosemary, thyme, oregano, and ginger
Consider keeping a homeopathic kit on hand for specific acute symptoms
You can also see the “News” section of our website with links for an immune building soup and breakfast within Dr. Cortney’s “Tis the Season to Boost Your Immunity,” to connect with Dr. Jenna’s website where she has previously blogged about numerous forms of immune support, and Dr. Teresa’s blog with prior immune suggestions.
You can also consider a consult with Dr. Jenna for injection or IV therapy for immune supportive measures. Contact the clinic for this purpose as well.
We will continue to provide support and information as we are able. Please feel free to reach out with questions and concerns; and please utilize the mentioned resources.
One last reminder - the Emergency Department is for emergencies only, please only utilize the ER for emergent situations.
Wishing everyone a calm and healthy walk through this experience,
The Roots for Health Physicians and Staff
